If you're selling, renting, or building a property in the UK, you’ve probably come across the term EPC, short for Energy Performance Certificate. But what is it — and why does it matter?
What Is an EPC?
An EPC is a document that shows how energy-efficient a property is. It gives the building a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and includes information on how to improve energy performance.
When Do You Need One?
Selling a home
Landlord renting to tenants
Applying for green energy grants
Marketing a property
By law, an EPC is required in all of these cases unless the property is exempt.
Why Is It Important?
EPCs help potential buyers and tenants understand the likely running costs of a property and are a legal requirement. A good rating can even increase the value or appeal of your property.
At RapidEPC, we make the process simple — with online booking and same-day appointments available across Brighton, Sussex, and London.
